Alerta Chair Pad Quick Start Guide

Before You Begin

  • Read all instructions before use.
  • Incorrect set-up or loose positioning may cause false or missed notifications.
  • This is not a medical device.
  • Keep cords out of walkways.

What’s in the Kit

  1. Alerta Rest Chair Pad.
  2. Alerta Beacon (assembled in pad pouch) with USB Power Cable & Wall Adapter. Do not remove Beacon device from pouch.
  3. Adhesive "no-slip" grips (four).
  4. Alerta Wedge with USB Power Cable & Wall Adapter (white).

Quick Start Setup

1. Download the Mobile App

  • Download the Alerta Family mobile app and login to see your Alerta Home devices.

2. Position & Secure Chair Pad

  • Attach adhesive grips to the underside of sensor pad corners.
  • Place sensor pad on the chair seat, with the printed text facing up.
  • Cushions or incontinence pads may be placed on top of the Alerta sensor pad's seat area.
  • Let the transmitter pouch hang off of the back, side, or front of the chair (based on chair design).
  • Make sure that the pouch hangs straight down (perpendicular to the sensor pad) with a clear line of sight to the Alerta Wedge.

3. Connect Power to Alerta Wedge

  • Connect (white) USB power cable to Alerta Wedge device and to (white) wall adapter; plug adapter into wall outlet.
  • Route cord safely to avoid hazards.

💡 Alerta Wedge LED Colors

  • 🔵 Blue (flashing): Connected to Cellular Network
  • 🟢 Green (continuous): Alerta Wedge is operating
  • 🔴 Red (instantaneous): signal received from Alerta Beacon

4. Connect Power to Alerta Pad / Recharge Battery

  • Connect the Alerta Beacon USB power cable (Micro-B) to the power “dongle” extending from the sensor pad’s transmitter pouch
⚠️ Do not remove the Alerta Beacon from the pouch.
  • Plug the other end of the USB cable into the wall adapter, and insert the adapter into a wall outlet.
  • Keep the transmitter pouch visible and unobstructed. Do not place it under cushions or against metal frames, as this can block signal transmission.
  • Make sure the whip antenna is sticking out of the pouch, not tucked inside.
  • Safely route the power cord to avoid tripping or pinching hazards.

💡 Alerta Beacon Battery

  • The Alerta Beacon contains a non-replaceable, non-removable 3.3 volt battery, which can provide power for short-term operation during power loss.
  • Do not attempt to remove battery from Alerta Beacon.

5. Test

  • Press the sensor pad and hold (for up to 90 seconds) to send a signal.
  • Check the Alerta Family mobile app to confirm that the signal was received by the Alerta Wedge and the Alerta Cloud.
